Oh My Stars
You know those quilts that just "have to come out"? Well this was one of "those" quilts for me. I was inspired by an exhibition of Amish quilts at the Houston Quilt show. I came upon a red quilt with scrappy stars and lots of quilted feathers and I was mesmerized. (Red, stars, feathers are all some of my favorite things!)
And when I quilted this quilt, I went really "went up" a level. So, if you have a quilt top that is something special to you but isn't quilted because you are afraid you will mess it up. Get that quilt out get it pin basted and quilt it! You may surprise yourself and do something FABULOUS!! Happy quilting!

Having seen this quilt in person, I can agree it is one true beauty. Your work, mind and quilting inspires me do do better! Thanks girlie, your the tops!
I agree with you! I waited for so long to try the machine quilting.. It still takes me a while to finish the quilt but I am happier with the finished quilt than the quilt top!
Shelly, this quilt is breathtaking!!! I clicked on the photos to see a larger image, and I am blown away by your quilting!!!! I love how you used different quilting designs within the quilt.
It's funny how you mention not to be worried about messing up a special quilt top by quilting it ourselves. That is exactly how I feel about my quilts, and lately I've been reading that many others feel the same way. Glad to know I'm not the only one, but also happy to be inspired by your inspiration and confidence that I might be able to "surprise myself and do something fabulous"....if only I could convince myself ;-)
Absolutely full of sparkle! Just gorgeous.

Just stunning! I love everything about this quilt - the colour, the quilting, the pattern! If I could quilt like that, I'd have no qualms about doing it all myself!
I love the circle quilting. really sets it off!
Wow! I love stars, and your quilt is beautiful!
I love this quilt! I like how at first glance it's a simple nine patch but up close you see the stars.
What a great star quilt. I just found an antique feather star with a nine patch star in the center and you've captured that spirit.

what a great quilt!!
What a striking quilt! Really like the little stars within the bigger block.
The simplest of Amish designs can become the most amazing quilts with a bit of colour play, well done
Gorgeous! I love all those things too. And yes, I have a quilt top that has been sitting for years now because I don't think I can quilt it well enough. Thanks for the motivation to reach new heights!
Your quilt is beautiful and I like the patriotic colors. Amish blocks are a great inspiration. I bet you are glad you did the quilting.
This is a lovely quilt. It has taken me years to just jump in and machine quilt my tops due to fear. Aren't we funny folks to be so worried?
It's so pretty. Love the colors.
i love the colors in this quilt- very powerful! It really is beautiful!
This is a stunning quilt! I love the stars and the feathers. I like how the simple 9-patch becomes so complex in this quilt. And your quilting is exquisite!
I still stall about quilting my quilts, because I'm afraid I'm gonna screw them up. The one's I've done, I think are alright, so I really have no excuse. It's a mind game, I guess!
i love red! and i love red white and blue. And i love stars. so this quilt is perfect! ;o)

Just do it, eh? Love the quilt & quilting.
Vibrant color combo, pattern, and quilting. It all works together to make one spectacular statement.
This quilt is dazzling. Funny, but I used to think that red and blue was my least favorite color combination. I have to rethink that.
